Assuming control

Alrighty, after almost just letting this thing go and delete it, I’ve decided I can afford to work on this thing every now and then. After this week I intend to try and keep a schedule of Sunday, Wednesday, and then Friday evenings as I think that’s as good a schedule as any; before the weekend, after the weekend, and middle of the week. But enough, on to the games.

Last week I managed to beat inFAMOUS, which ultimately wasn’t that bad, especially since I got it for free due to Sony’s PSN outage in the spring. I was a bit pissed however for one minor reason. I was trying to go for the good ending. I played the entire game, doing good deeds, doing all the good missons and so on. However when it comes to a choice between saving the love of my life, and saving the lives of a handful of people, you’d think that as far as one’s heart is concerned, saving your love would be the best idea. Apparently Sucker Punch disagrees. Not only did I get Evil points for trying to save her, turns out she wasn’t even on the damn building to start with, and I ended up losing her and all those innocent people. What bullshit. That was the only mark against a very enjoyable game, and the only major evil action in a unmarred Good playthrough. It was the first time I played it, and I also went through it on Hard for no real reason, so I got all the associated achievements for that difficulty. Actually excited to play the second one whenever that is.

Also happen to be going through Mass Effect 2 again in an effort to finally complete the entire game with all the DLC I bought before ME3 comes out. I’m playing on Hardcore which is stupid since there’s no actual achievement for finishing the game on that difficulty, but I suppose I was bored when I finished it on Normal last year. Last time I imported my goody male Shepherd from ME1, this time I imported my hardass female Shepherd from ME1. I must say that I don’t really feel any of the voice acting in the game, but Jennifer Hale does a mean…mean girl. Just finished meeting the Collectors on Horizon and to my disamay I seemed to have let Kaidan live in the first game, so I got to deal with his annoying ass another time around. But oh well, won’t have to deal with him again I hope. Trying to stick with a solar system a day, so tonight I’ll probably just pick one with a handful of missions and knock it out. On the plus side, I’ve already mined all the resources I’ll need for all the pickups in the rest of the game, so no more tedious mining, and a bit more kicking ass.

On minor PC news, Sunday I finally managed to beat the third fucking mission for Genghis Khan on Age of Empires 2. It was purely that damn civilization building the Wonder on the side of the map that tried screwing me, but I managed to rush over there and Trebuchet rush his little palace and burn it to the ground. That is the major thing I do wrong in RTS games: I like to wait and build up my forces and then go all out, but that does not seem to work whatsoever. I’m working on it though. Haven’t even touched the 4th mission yet. Gonna give myself a break. And also I’m on the 14th and final mission of the Jedi Knight 1 expansion, Mysteries of the Sith. For a pretty much forgettable game (although the fanfare of getting to play as Mara Jade is nice), I find myself getting really pissed off with the design of this last level. Lightsaber only (which I can kinda forgive, storywise) but the sheer amount of 1 hit kill enemies, such as the tigers and Sith zombies is completely stupid. Can’t wait to see what bullshit awaits me when I have to inevitably fight Kyle and bring him back to the Light. Sigh, hopefully Jedi Outcast is better.

Other than that, my complete watching of The Next Generation is going smoothly, almost done with season 2. And I guess that’s it. Hopefully I’ll have made some progress by Friday on Age of Empires or Jedi. I don’t expect ME2 to give me any troubles. Till Friday!
